The Civilizational Logic of Building a Community with a Shared Future for Humanity and Its Philosophical Reflections
(Abstract)
Shen Xiangping
Society today confronts a series of shared challenges, placing human civilization at a pivotal crossroads. Marx’s philosophical reflections on history offer a “historically correct” theoretical framework for addressing the dilemmas that beset contemporary civilizations and for guiding their transformation. Upholding the “Two Integrations,” the Communist Party of China has led the people in the creation and development of a new form of human civilization—one that treats harmonious coexistence of civilizations as its fundamental path, promotes exchange and mutual learning among civilizations as its basic method, upholds core values while promoting innovation as its internal driving force, and adopts the common values of humanity as its normative core. This model ultimately aims to build a community with a shared future for humanity. The practical demonstration of Chinese modernization provides systematic answers to the question of where human civilization is headed and resolves the challenges posed by coexistence of diverse civilizations. This practice also broadens the horizons for the development of Marxism in China and of the 21st century. Contemporary Chinese Marxism must therefore more consciously undertake the responsibility of laying a philosophical foundation for the advancement of human civilization.
